Online moisture sensor installation and commissioning: a site-ready workflow

Installation is not a bracket task. Mechanical geometry, process coverage, electrical integrity, data mapping and reference sampling must be commissioned as one measurement system.

Performance depends on the material, reference method, operating range and installed configuration described in the project.

01

Freeze the measurement concept

Approve the point, material flow, target volume, sensor geometry, safe sampling location and maintenance access before fabrication.

02

Verify mechanical and electrical work

Record dimensions, alignment, protection, wear surfaces, grounding, shielding, cable routes, supply and interface mapping against approved drawings.

03

Commission with real production

Test empty and full conditions, range and status signals, timestamps, sample delay, normal variation, alarms and operator actions using controlled records.

04

Hando over a maintainable baseline

Save photographs, settings, calibration version, PLC mapping, validation status, cleaning interval, spare strategy and responsibility matrix.

05

Close SAT with evidence, not a live number

Retain as-built dimensions and photos, serial/configuration record, I/O test, scaling, time alignment, reference samples, valid/invalid states, alarms, maintenance access, operator handover and open actions. SAT confirms the agreed installed workflow; it does not create a performance claim outside the tested material and range.

Before you act

Engineering checklist

  • Approve the measurement point
  • Record mounting dimensions
  • Verify grounding and shielding
  • Test value and status signals
  • Pair reference samples
  • Save baseline configuration
  • Train operations and maintenance
